It’s probably slower, right? I don’t understand future cars.

It was bound to happen eventually.

That’s an interesting thought. Maybe?

On the one hand, there is no concievable reason for doing this. On the other, this is soooooooooooawesome.

there’s no way this could be cheaper than buying a p85d. there is no way this is faster than a p85d. there is no way this can be as ballanced as a p85d..
why don’t they just buy a p85d?

It’s not real , sadly.

0-60 most likley not but generally electric cars dont have crazy top speeds.

Realistically, the only way to make this work would be to find a Corvette / Camero / CTS-V that’s been rolled and totalled, and then take the chassis and put a Model S shell over top of it.
Like a lot of things, you would do it because you could, not because it makes economic sense.

AWD Electric with instant torque vs. (presumably) RWD and lightweight. This is a tough one.

You forget about weight. Those battery packs and motors weigh a ton. The LS is a very light engine, so losing a few hundred pounds is definitely a good thing.

Soo wrong and sooo right at the same time!

I can’t imagine the weight savings are all that great when you factor in everything else that had to go along with it, like a transmission, driveshaft, bracing and motor mounts. Yeah, LSb motors are light compared to other motors, but those other motors already have the rest of that stuff.

A Tesla I’m actually interested in.

That little engine is buried in there!

And if you’re in California (and a number of other states as well), you can probably modify it to your heart’s content knowing that you’ll never have to get it smog checked.
Back when diesels weren’t smogged, we would grab used Rabbit diesels and do engine swaps knowing that the man wasn’t going to touch us, but then they got wise to our shenanigans.

“little”

I work on airplane engines...a 350 cubic inch engine that doesn’t even have cooling fins or individually removable cylinders is pretty damn tiny. That said, the SBC is pretty famous for fitting in spaces designed for rather small displacement engines.

much improved.
